about

This one comes from Sunday school. You remember: crayon church and stencil Jesus. Jacob tended sheep. Jacob traded pottage.

Jacob was a liar.

I have five boys and we like wrestling. I think men are born with a need for it. We wrestle with almost anything we can find. God is not left out of this equation. Perhaps my Sunday school teachers forgot this or perhaps it was something else... But THIS lesson (that I wrestled from out of the earth as it were and am now here relating to you) was and is that Jacob wrestled with God and WOULD NOT LET GO until He blessed him. He got a new name, a mighty limp, and the blessing of the Lord of Hosts. And I say - ME TOO! -ecb

lyrics

you wrestle words from out of the earth
you wring your hands for what they are worth
they're calling love by another name
you say I don't mind, I don't mind, I don't mind at all
~but will you catch me when I fall?
catch me when I fall, when I find I'm slipping down and down again
you wrestle with the wolves on the screen
your lion heart's on a holiday
you're calling love by some other name
you say i don't mind, i don't mind, i don't mind at all
~but will you catch me when I fall?
catch me when I fall, when I find I'm slipping down and down again
(sounds of wrestling on the ground)
you wrestled with the liar
wounded him on the way to meet his brother
now You're calling him by some other name
you think i don't mind? I don't mind? i don't mind the call?
~will you catch me when I fall?
catch me when I fall, when I find I'm slipping down and down again
